RECREATIONAL PROGRAM LEVEL SYSTEM
(6 years of age and older)
The OGC’s Recreation Program is designed for girls and for boys of different abilities, aged 6 and older, based on three philosophical principles FUN, FITNESS and FUNDAMENTALS, in a friendly, stimulating, secure and healthy environment. The Recreation Program follows the Kindergym developmental program and is the starting point to learning the basic skills essential to progress to the Advanced Recreation, Pre-Competitive and Competitive programs. The Recreation Program Level System incorporates the fundamental movement patterns of artistic gymnastics on all events for girls (vault, bars, beam, floor, trampoline) and for boys (vault, parallel bars, rings, high bar, pommel, floor, trampoline) as well as developmentally appropriate strengthening and flexibility exercises.
The Recreation Program Level System is divided in 8 levels (Level 1 to 8) allowing a progressive learning transition to more complex skills safely. The fundamental skills must be mastered (i.e. must complete the skills without help (unless stated otherwise) consistently) to successfully perform all future gymnastics skills, regardless of their level of complexity. Our certified coaches will assess all the skills learned and required in order to progress to the following level according to specific evaluation criteria.
